Working with grey gives a lot of poetic license to mix flat and blingy silver, steel and pewter tones, all in one bag. The pyramid shaped beads have a lovely iridescent quality, going from black to blue and purple. Grey is the new black.

Finding unique beads can mean a hunt through vintage shops. These big black beads are such a treasure and go very well with the big metal center bead and all the smaller, kitschy connector pieces.

This necklace had a mind of its own and really wanted to go Big. There are so many greens in the color spectrum and they all like to hang out with silvery things, like this big lacy pendant. If you listen closely, many pieces tell you how they want to look.

This could be in either the precious metal or the green category, thanks to the flat and round coppery beads. Copper colors are natural partners to the green family, especially these jade tones.

Inspired by an old college friend’s comment about the magic of lop-sided designs, I chose big, fat glass beads in the aquamarine family, highlighted by tiny silvery, decorative beads to give the big ones some punch and pizzazz.

This explosion of turquoise and green colored beads with silvery pieces is very popular. When I look at a work in progress, I ask my gut what emotion it evokes. This one congers up cheerfulness.

Whoo, that’s right Whoo, could resist the tiny Delftesque, ceramic owls. They appeal to adults and kids as they roost quietly between round and six-sided mother-of-pearl discs.

Lamp Work Focal 22″
Ceramic Navy beads and gold fresh water pearls make an elegant combo, with crackle glass beads added for good measure. The oblong lamp work centerpiece is a statement all by itself.
Pink and turquoise, star focal

My first foray into asymmetrical designs, turquoise and aquamarine stone chips are opposite pink and peach with tiny seed pearls uniting the two opposing sides. A tiny, center star acts as referee .
